Lryics with meaning !!

Lryics with meaning !!

I just wanted to post some lryics, that I've thought had/has some deep meaning to them. Comment and let me know what you think the meanings are and what you think.

Lennon/McCartney

Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream,
It is not dying, it is not dying

Lay down al thoughts, surrender to the void,
It is shining, it is shining.

Yet you may see the meaning of within
It is being, it is being

Love is all and love is everyone
It is knowing, it is knowing

And ignorance and hate mourn the dead
It is believing, it is believing

But listen to the colour of your dreams
It is not leaving, it is not leaving

So play the game "Existence" to the end
Of the beginning, of the beginning

album _The Velvet Underground and Nico_
(The Velvet Underground, 1967)

witten by Lou Reed

I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom if I can
'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man
When I put a spike into my vein
Then I tell you things aren't quite the same
When I'm rushing on my run
And I feel just like Jesus' son
And I guess that I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know

I have made big decision
I'm gonna try to nullify my life
'Cause when the blood begins to flow
When it shoots up the dropper's neck
When I'm closing in on death

And you can't help me, not you guys
Or all you sweet girls with all your sweet talk
You can all go take a walk
And I guess I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know

I wish that I was born a thousand years ago
I wish that I'd sailed the darkened seas
On a great big clipper ship
Going from this land here to that
Ah, in a sailor's suit and cap

Away from the big city
Where a man cannot be free
Of all the evils of this town
And of himself and those around
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know

Heroin, be the death of me
Heroin, it's my wife and it's my life, ha-ha
Because a mainer to my vein
Leads to a center in my head
And then I'm better off than dead

Because when the smack begins to flow
I really don't care anymore
About all the Jim-Jims in this town
And all the politicians making crazy sounds
And everybody putting everybody else down
And all the dead bodies piled up in mounds

'Cause when the smack begins to flow
Then I really don't care anymore

Ah, when that heroin is in my blood, hah
And that blood is in my head
Man thank God that I'm good as dead
And thank your God that I'm not aware
And thank God that I just don't care
And I guess that I just don't know
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know

i think both are searching for a feeling to replace an obsession with death--both are actually attempting to stop fighting with death.

though the paul/john lyrics are all about belief--that it is the fight against death that causes pain and sadness; meanwhile, lou's fear of meaningless living and dying is replaced by an addiction to non-belief, non-life. sluicing dope into his veins makes him feel not like he's alive, and not like he's dead, but in between like jesus' son: a pointless, motionless wait for someone to either empathize with him, to really understand him--or to kill him.

I don't think Lou Rawls is glorifying the drug scene; probably just the opposite.I'm blessed to have never seen the need to inject a foreign substance into my blood in order to alter my mood. But I can understand how one's life could come to the point of such despair that he feels the need. The majority live by props of some kind.

The Lennon/McCarney song appears to me to be some more of that Buddhist philosophy that is so much a part of the music of the 60's. I'm considering a post about the song "Wheels"- good song abou the revolving nature of life, the need to mature beyond the rat-race.

Thanks, Dan. You like to remind us of these guys from the 60's, don't you?

yea well, that is our time was it? the songs seem to have more meaning back then. Lou reed was the gin rock total NYC as in summon and garfunkle is. when I think of them I get home sick for the city. Yes the Beatles was in to Buddha as you know they went to India and George really got in to Sitar as I always wanted to learn to play that. 60's and 70's was great time and I am glad that, I was there at that time. We did play a lot of there music when I played in the band. we also played a lot of the doors and I do get into bob Dylan also.

life can get depression at time but I never got into hard drugs. I did smoke pot but back not really got into it that much.

live is a mystery and we all must find the key to it! it was grim and grin music to express the filling that they had. He was in the group of Andy warhole and the art friends and music. My friends think my art friends art strange. Oh well, that how it goes. You are in the art seen or you not you have to be there to understand it. Anyway thanks for the comment and I agree with all you said.

that is very much possible or a Mind altering and inner mind thoughts that is enhance by drugs as Heroin and acid that is in the same drug class. I never use either and never would :) but it could be a mind trip with out drugs.

well yea, we know that I was talking about that. I think we all know that.. John said it wasnt drugs but a dream he had after reading a book. but sound more like a drug trip. just like lucy in the sky they all said it was drugs, but it was a painting of a girl from his son(Juilan Lennon) school.

Lyrics are like poetry sometimes and Lennon and McCartney are two of the greatest poets of the 20th century, i must say in my humble opinion
