Final thoughts on the Dan Browns Book The DA Vinci Code. The Cribbage Game short history.

Final thoughts on the Dan Browns Book The DA Vinci Code. The Cribbage Game short history.

First of all, the reader must keep in mind that, this is a novel not the absolute truth sketch in Stone,  The story has information though-out the story.  Dan Brown did say that he'd taken information he found form documents and findings. Then took what he found about the subject and wrapped the story around it. There are many thoughts and believes about this subject. There are many biblical scholars who have been studying and researching for years but still not all the answers(Is information in the book may or may not be fact)  You must remember that Dan browns book is just that a "BOOK"  A well written story that many have enjoyed.  Some have trouble reading it because it's load with facts and information about the Bible and other information related.  At times it is hard to take in the vast amount of facts/information in the story but, still a great story and not the truth sketch in stone,  A "Book"

I have enjoyed this book very much. The story line is a very well planed and the character's come to life. The main two in the story are Robert Langdon and Sophia. They go on a mad hunt for the clues for the grail. All along being chase by the Police and other  evil grail wanter's. If you have not read it yet,  I would say is worth reading. Try to get though the large amount of information and history in the story. I had a hard time with the subjects and some words that was in French, that you seem to lose the story when you get to those parts.

After reading it. I can't find anything to be upset about this story.  Many have been upset and a fended by the subject of God and the bible.  I didn't not see any part of the story to be upset about. But, that could this be me. Once it just a "BOOK", not the last word of the truth on the subject.  I found the book hard to put down and when I did, I couldn't wait to read it again.

Last thoughts  It was a great story. It was fun to read.  I didn't taken it to be The last word of truth, or the information was all truth carved in stone turth.  Made you think and wonder about the whole thing, and ask yourself IF and what if.

Cribbage is one of my favorite games. I can play for hours and not get sick of it!  There are many version of the rules but it is a fun way to spend time playing. I find it fascinating the history of it and how long it's been played. It dates back to the W's Played by sailors out on sea on the big old wooden ships. There many sites you can go to to learn the game " like the one of my link on the right bottom side, mark Blog games" It's a fun game to learn and to play. Some of  my other games I like are, chess and scrabble.

Here is the history:

Cribbage is one of the earliest classic card games. Its invention is generally credited to an Englishman John Suckling (1609 - 1642).  According to John Suckling's biographer John Aubrey, Suckling was something of a scoundrel by all accounts, "the greatest gallant of his time, the greatest gamester both for bowling and cards, so that no shopkeeper would trust him for sixpence".  John Suckling was a poet, a playwright, a traveler, an expert at cards and dice as well as a womaniser and a notorious wit!

Cribbage was known as "Noddy" prior to the modification of the rules by Sir John.  In 1630, John Suckling was knighted by the King, but fell from grace several years later.

In 1641, John Suckling was involved in a conspiracy to save a friend who was jailed in the Tower of London.  The plan failed and Sir John had to flee England for the Continent. Unable to return to his country, Suckling ended his life a year later, at the age of 33. The game of Cribbage is his legacy.

Personal note, working on the  Family tree.

I have been working on my family tree.  So far I got back to 1800 with my Great ,Great grandfather James McDonald.  Who was a Sea caption on one of the old wooden ships form Nova Scotia.  It's been hard and madding at times but it has been fun.

I am confused...

In response to anyone who may not like the message of the book, you say several times that it is "just a book". But, then you you say Dan Brown is passing along "facts". Which is it? Just a book of fiction to read and enjoy but not to take seriously, or a well-researched book of facts?

Cribbage I played once and loved. I love bridge too--but cannot get people to play it. I think it's a generational game. I have played online, but that can be frustrating. Great blog!!!

Ahhh! I remember summers at our family cottage of endless cribbage games,
word games, and croquet! And when we weren't playing those, we were reading
the rag and romance magazines my great aunt had a fetish for buying. LOL
Thanks for mentioning this and bringing back my faded but not forgotten memories

I love this book. I couldn't stop reading it when I started reading the few pages :D To me, Dan Brown is....well, what should I say? a genius. But only one thing I'm upset about is 'this film' :op

The book was a great fascnation. Though it has notoriously tried to sell Jesus in a very unique way. Hope Dan Brown can face Jesus directly when He comes.
Any ways he is a great fictionist. kudos to him. Right dan??

hey danielsan,

my only up'n close experience with mr brown is a borrowed audio telling of angels and demons which i listened to on my long drive out of oregon last year.

i have plenty of cribbage experience from frosh year at college, though: we used to play for pizza. that's a powerful learning incentive, by the way.

also, i noted your pink floyd update: syd was a strange nut from the beginning. i remember some high school summer, randomly buying ummagumma--thinking i was a knowledgeable floyd fan. but i had no clue. syd was the man--he was the first crazy man in that band, and a genius. sometimes, i guess, that's a bad recipe.

nice post. your blog looks nice these days.
